Chief Accountant in Manufacturing Company  with Scandinavian culture| Full-time position (On-site role with flexibility for occasional remote work).

A dynamically growing manufacturing company, part of an international capital group, is looking for an experienced professional for the position of Chief Accountant, who will take full responsibility for the company’s financial and accounting area.

Area of responsibility:

The Chief Accountant is responsible for the overall accounting function of the Polish entity, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and Group reporting standards. The role oversees the accuracy of financial records, manages closing processes, and acts as the main point of contact for external authorities and auditors.

In accordance with the Polish Accounting Act, the Chief Accountant holds responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the accounting records and may carry formal accountability for statutory compliance. The role also supports local management and Group Finance with relevant financial information and analysis.

 

Duties:

Statutory Accounting & Compliance

  • Maintain full statutory accounting records in accordance with applicable Polish accounting and tax regulations (regulations – 70 employees).
  • Ensure compliance with the Polish Accounting Act and all relevant tax legislation.
  • Hold responsibility for the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of accounting records in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary updates within the organization.

 

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee and participate in daily accounting activities, including:
    • Posting of purchase and sales invoices
    • Verification of accounting documentation
    • Supervision of document flow
    • Execution and control of bank payments in accordance with internal authorization rules
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, register maintenance, and depreciation.

 

Closing & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Cash Flow).
  • Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare annual statutory financial statements and ensure timely filing with the National Court Register.
  • Co-sign statutory financial statements in accordance with local requirements, where applicable.
  • Deliver financial reporting to the Group in accordance with the reporting calendar and internal deadlines.

 

Tax & External Relations

  • Act as the main contact for Polish tax authorities and external institutions.
  • Prepare and submit tax returns (VAT, CIT, JPK).
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of JPK (SAF-T) files in compliance with Polish tax authority requirements.
  • Ensure timely submission of CbCR reporting and primary contact for Transfer pricing documentation collection together with external partner.
  • Handle official correspondence and inquiries.
  • Manage tax refund processes, particularly VAT refunds.
  • Represent the company during tax audits and inspections.

 

Audit

  • Coordinate and support external and internal audits.
  • Prepare required documentation, liaise with auditors, and resolve identified issues.

 

Business Support & Analysis

  • Prepare internal financial reports and analyses to support management decision-making.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and payables, oversee cash flow and liquidity.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and sales functions on financial and operational matters.
  • Work closely with the Production Controller regarding cost calculation and production settlement.

 

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Maintain close cooperation with the Factory Director in Poland and the Finance & Control Manager in Sweden.

 

Team Leadership

  • Lead, support, and develop the local accounting team.
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of tasks, competence development. Create, document and adhere to internal procedures.

 

Processes & Governance

  • Develop, implement, and update accounting policies and internal procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Lead and coordinate the end-to-end process for statistical reporting to Statistics Poland (GUS), ensuring accuracy and on-time submission.

 

 Our requirements:

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certifications (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent such as SKwP) are considered an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, including at least 3 years in a similar or senior role.
  • Experience working with auditors and external authorities.
  • Hands-on experience in dealing with Polish tax authorities and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of Polish accounting regulations and tax legislation.
  • Solid understanding of the Polish Accounting Act and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data.
  • Ability to manage closing processes and reporting in a structured and efficient manner.
  • Fluency in Polish is required for communication with local authorities and statutory compliance.
  • Very good command of English for professional communication in an international environment.
